    Pediatric Services

We know how important quality health care for your children is to you, and it's just as important to us. Our doctors are board-certified in family medicine and our physician assistant has years of training and experience in the field. Family medicine doctors care for patients of all ages starting at birth and provide the same services as you would receive in any pediatrician's office including vaccinations and help with childhood illnesses. Regular preventive care will let your child's provider catch any developmental or growth concerns early. These appointments also give you and your child a chance to ask questions and establish a trusting relationship with your provider.

Typically, your child will visit our office at the following ages:

    • A few days after hospital discharge
    • 1 month
    • 2 months
    • 4 months
    • 6 months
    • 9 months
    • 9 months
    • 12 months
    • 15 months
    • 18 months
    • 24 months
    • Annually starting at age 3

We understand parenting comes with many questions and worries, many of which do not happen during regular office hours. When you choose Novant Health Family Physicians Gastonia, after-hours help is only a phone call away. After-hours calls are handled by our triage team and will be directed to your provider as needed. And, if you child has an illness that can't wait until Monday, you can take advantage of our Saturday urgent care hours.

    School and Sports Physicals

Physical exams are often required before your child can attend school or participate in a sport. Our office regularly completes school and sports physicals for our pediatric patients. Needed forms can often be completed during your child's annual appointment. Generally, there will not be an extra charge unless the forms require extra tests or a separate appointment. If you have questions about coverage, please ask your insurer or anyone in our office.

    A Note About Vaccines

Our office believes in the power of vaccines to help our children stay healthy and follows the American Academy of Pediatrics guidelines for vaccine administration. We also work with the North Carolina Immunization Program to provide vaccines for uninsured and underinsured children. Cost should never be a factor in giving your child this valuable protection from illness.

If you have questions about vaccines for your child or about how to pay for them, please call our office at 704-316-4979.
