Allison M. Evanoff, MD, understands that many patients associate doctors with illness. However, she sees it is just as important to focus on keeping people healthy as it is on getting them well. "I see so many benefits to preventive health care," Dr. Evanoff said. "The best time to see a doctor is when you are not sick. I enjoy helping my patients avoid illness when possible and work to identify small problems before they become larger health issues."
Dr. Evanoff says in some cases early diagnosis can have a huge impact on a patient's future health. "I became a doctor in part to prevent early deaths," she said. "That starts with quality preventative care, which is exactly what we provide here at Novant Health Family Physicians Gastonia."
While Dr. Evanoff understands that making changes to be healthier can sometimes mean major lifestyle shifts, she wants patients to know, "I practice what I preach. I see my doctor regularly, and my husband and two sons strive to stay active and keep an eye on our health."
